As I mentioned a post back, I got a drive to Lennoxville for a couple days from my buddy Jer. We left on Sunday and got there after a long 10 hour drive. We spent the night on Reid street partying it up and I had a great night with my friends. However, instead of staying in Lennoxville until Wednesday, I decided to hit up Toronto to visit two of my old roommates. The decision was made on Sunday after a few beers. Typically, decision like that end up in disaster, but I got lucky this time. Jer (my buddy going to Ottawa) dropped me off in Montreal so I could take the train to Toronto. After a great couple days with Sam and Ryan, I had to head back off to Montreal to visit the Korean Consulate and “do work” on my work visa. And “do work” I did. I showed up at their office and this is what happened:
Simon: Yo. I gotsta be working in K-Land teaching your shorties the street language of my hood. (Hello, I’m here to check up on my E-2 work visa application.)
Lady: Your height and stature frighten/intimidate/seduce me. I will immediately go get my supervisor so he can interview you immediately. (Yes, one moment. I’ll check if someone is available to interview you. Please have a seat.)
Simon: Pfff… yeah. You do that. (Thank you very much)
Anyway, turns out they had my visa application form, and the only thing missing was an interview. I got lucky and the gentleman responsible for interviews was available that afternoon. I got that done and my work visa was going to be processed and it should be on its way this Friday. Hopefully I’ll get it Monday, book a flight for Tuesday and be in Korea on Thursday.
Now for my journey back to the Maritimes. Turns out Jer didn’t come back down [to the Maritimes] because he had unexpected school functions and such to attend, so I ended up flighing back. The trip turned out to be a fair bit more expensive than I had expected, but seeing my friends and having a great time with them more than made up for it.
