Last night was New Year’s eve. My friend rented a limo and with 7 other people we cruised around Seoul for 3 hours feeling like rock stars. It was actually my first time in a limo. If you’ve never been in one, I’d recommend trying it out. It’s a cool feeling to be drinking on the road in comfortable seats in the middle of traffic. Makes the frustration associated with traffic jams go away.
So we cruised around for a while and then we went to meet up with some friends around 2 for some more celebration in the busy Hongdae area. After going to a loud club, we decided to relax at a place called “oi” until the subway started up again. I wish I could remember where this place is because it’s a really neat environment. Imagine this. If the architect responsible for the Mos Eisley cantina and the Rebel engineer who designed the Hoth base met and collaborated in building a bar, this is what they’d build. It’s really cool. It’s got those rounded out plaster walls and cool upper level hangout areas. I still insist that it would have been cooler if they played some John Williams music, but alas, not all my dreams can come true. So we just chilled there until 5:30 when the subways started up again.
Tired and still drunk, we parted ways, some people wanting some food and some wanting to go home. I got on my subway from Seoul to Suwon and immediatly passed out. Amazingly, I woke up 30 seconds before my stop after a 45 minute ride. Sometimes my body amazes me. Finishing off the night before sunrise, I was in bed by 7.
Happy new year friends, it’s off to a good start!
