This is a game idea I had for my conversation class.
You may be familiar with Scorched Earth; the old school tank game for computer. Well, for this game, you’ll be playing a flash version of the game on the class computer. All you need is a class with computer on the internet and a projection system. First, you make teams of two students. One student (tank commander) sits at the computer with the monitor turned off while the other (general) is looking at the projector. Both students have a copy of the order sheet. The General gives orders to the Tank Commander. Both teams have the same set up. You’ve got one student giving directions and the other listening and executing them. The teams want to destroy their opponent’s tank.
You can set up a little tournament style thing if you’ve got a large class. I’m sure you can figure something out, this isn’t a complicated game at all.
I tried it with a class of 16 students. It was a bit much. The students not playing were talking to each other in Korean. I did it with a class of 4 students. The boys really liked it, but the girls said it wasn’t fun for girls since it was a “boy game”. Either way, it’s a nice change of pace and it’s basicaly no work for you.
