I’m writing this from Taipei internation airport, waiting my flight to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. I don’t really have too much time to do a big write up on Taiwan (my flight is leaving soon), but it was amazing. Before coming here, people asked me why I wanted to go to Taiwan. I always answered I wasn’t sure, but it looked really cool. Sure enough, it was really cool. I met many interesting people and the sights here are amazing. Whether it’s walking in Taipei through a night market, hanging out on the beach in a cabin/restaurant or driving a 125cc scooter (poor thing…) up a 3000m high road along a mountain range, it was amazing.
I also decided while here that I want to study Mandarin here if my Masters application doesn’t go through. Learning the language makes sense, but learning it in Taiwan is interesting because they still use the traditional system instead of the simplified system used in China. That means I’d be able to go to simplified with ease, while if I studied in China, going back to the traditional system can be a bit more difficult (according to some friend I met here).
I had some pretty crazing things to eat here too. Lots of food, some of it a bit on teh unorthodox side of things. Duck brain anyone?
As always, I’m nervous about customs, but I think it’ll be fine. I hope my anxiety doesn’t come off in my eyes. Urgh. I’m just making myself more nervous!
Ok, the clock on this computer is way off. It says it’s 2:49, but it’s actually 3:22. My flight start boarding at 3:15. I should go…
Honestly, once I have some time, I’ll do one of these updates properly.
